Message queuing telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol

16 February 2024

Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) is a communication protocol that connects devices or ‘things’ that are elements of the Internet of Things (IoT). It is a simple messaging protocol designed for constrained devices with low bandwidth. It uses a Publish-Subscribe-based architecture in which one device publishes to the broker and the other devices subscribe to receive the message. It is a bi-directional communication in which any client can publish or subscribe to the broker.

During this webinar we focused on why and how to implement MQTT protocol.

What we covered in the webinar:
  • Introduction of MQTT
  • Why MQTT?
  • How MQTT works?
  • MQTT Security Fundamentals
  • Application of MQTT
  • Demonstration

We looked into the need of MQTT in embedded system with the help of a small demonstration, where a mobile application read the temperature prototype data from another client (temperature sensor); we also saw the different Quality of Service (QoS) levels in MQTT and its security fundamentals.
